Obi-Wan looked at his Master and smiled. Through the Force he could sense his Master was still sleeping. Last night had been incredible. He knew he and Qui-Gon had been wise to wait, but he could not help regretting the wasted time and the nights he had laid awake frustrated and longing for his Master not knowing that his Master had the same longings for him.
At the Temple, Obi-Wan had been taught that many padawans developed crushes on their Masters and that it was best to overcome them and focus one's attention on another padawan. Relationships worked best between equals and Masters and Apprentices were not equals. It was only last evening that Qui-Gon had told him that such relationships were allowed once the padawan reached adulthood at 18 years of age as long as another Jedi Master confirmed that the padawan was entering the relationship under his own free will. Obi-Wan was 22 years old. Master Yoda had certified that Obi-Wan's feelings were his own months before when Obi-Wan had sought him for counseling about his feelings for his Master.
At the time, Obi-Wan had not realized that Yoda was giving him permission to pursue the relationship. He realized with some embarrassment that Yoda was getting some amusement out of Obi-Wan's innocence. Yoda, despite being a Jedi Master, had a sense of humor and tended to find the padawans amusing.
He only hoped that he and Qui-Gon had managed to maintain their shields so they did not broadcast their encounter to every Jedi in the Temple. Obi-Wan was still shy enough not to want his sex life shared by the Jedi Council. A part of him wished that their first encounter had taken place on a mission instead of at the Temple.
Of course, they rarely had time to enjoy themselves during their missions and more than a few hosts insisted on constantly checking up on their Jedi guests. It would have been even worse to be caught by hosts.
Obi-Wan looked at the chronometer. Neither Obi-Wan nor Qui-Gon liked waking up to alarms. Usually Qui-Gon woke up first and Obi-Wan was the one startled by the alarm. More often than he wished to admit he was woken up by a dream about his Master only to find his Master already dressing or removing Obi-Wan's pillow with the Force when Obi-Wan tried to hide from his alarm.
Today was different. Last night had been wonderful, but exhausting and Obi-Wan's youth worked in his favor. Both men were in good shape from their Jedi exercises, but last night had been intense. Obi-Wan decided that he needed to convince Qui-Gon to let him practice some of the Force exercises that Qui-Gon had used on him last night.
They had not lifebonded yet. Qui-Gon insisted that they must wait a couple of weeks to be sure that Obi-Wan truly desired it. Still, they were bonded as Master and Padawan and could sense each other's pleasure through the bond. It felt so good that it had driven Obi-Wan crazy.
Deciding to spare Qui-Gon the annoyance of waking up to an alarm, Obi-Wan had an idea. Qui-Gon had insisted on first names in bed and Obi-Wan had been relieved. They did need to separate their relationship as Master and Padawan from their relationship in bed.
Obi-Wan ran his hand along Qui-Gon's cheek. Qui-Gon did not stir. Obi-Wan took the opportunity to run his hands down Qui-Gon's chest, tracing random patterns. Qui-Gon stirred and reached for Obi-Wan, but did not open his eyes.
Deciding that Qui-Gon looked too delicious to ignore, Obi-Wan kissed Qui-Gon on the lips as his hands did some exploring.
Qui-Gon opened his eyes to see the handsome face of his padawan looking at him with such a look of love and desire that it made his heart constrict. Last night had been incredible, but he had still been afraid that Obi-Wan would regret his actions. He was heartened to know that Obi-Wan did not.
"Good morning," Qui-Gon said. "You slept well."
"Yes," Qui-Gon forced himself to say. "The lifebond is forever. It is written that it can even survive death. You must be sure that it is what you want and that you understand the sacrifices that come with it."
"What sacrifice could it be to be bonded to you?" Obi-Wan asked. Then shyly and a bit impishly, "I love you."
"And I love you. That is why I want to wait. I will not risk doing anything that is not in your best interest," Qui-Gon said firmly, but he allowed his hand to stroke Obi-Wan's cheek. "If we are lifebonded, you will lose much of your privacy and if I am injured or sick you will feel my pain. When I die, you will feel my death."
"I know what it entails," Obi-Wan said. "I am not a child and I know what I am doing. Whether we bond today or next week or next year, I will not change my mind. I want you to be in my life forever. If we are bonded the Council will let us remain together when I become a Jedi Knight. I have been dreading the thought of leaving you for years."
"You still have time before your trials," Qui-Gon said. "Two weeks. If you still wish to bond in two weeks, then I will ask Master Yoda to witness."
"I have waited years. I guess I can survive two weeks," Obi-Wan said, but he still sounded impatient. Patience was not one of his many virtues.
"I guess we should make sure to practice before then," Obi-Wan gasped as Qui-Gon sent force fingers over him.
"I have to meet with Master Windu after lunch," Qui-Gon said. "And I want you to put in some meditation time later this morning. You seem to keep finding excuses to put it off and I have been too lenient about allowing it."
"It is still early. We have time," Obi-Wan smiled hungrily.
Qui-Gon tried to give him a look of mock annoyance, but it failed. Obi-Wan could see the love and desire in Qui-Gon's eyes.
