Miss Szandora

An interview with witch and webhostess....

Miss Szandora has made a wonderful page focusing on Satanic witchery: The Gallery of the Satanic Witch. It's been copied and imitated numerous times, but never successfully.

Charming Devil: Your Satanic Witchery page is very different than most webpages regarding Satanism, both aesthetically and content-wise. What was your original motivation behind making the website?

Miss Szandora: I wanted to show people that Satanism wasn’t all gloom and doom, and that there are plenty of women involved in it. Also that there is no ‘stereotypical’ Satanist, they come in all forms.. all shapes and all types.

CD: I’ve heard that you can be very selective about who you add to your ‘Gallery of the Satanic Witch’. What’s the reason for that? What in particular are you looking for? Or, what are you trying to keep out?

MS: As with anything I want to present in a positive light, I want the cream of the crop. I look for women who are confident, attractive, intelligent and self-aware. What I DO NOT want are ‘look how spooky I am’ types who will jump onto some other “trend” when they see fit. I want people who are sincere and honest about being Satanists, people how have something to offer.

CD: What was your intention in creating a gallery of Satanic witches?

MS: As I’ve said, it was to show people that Satanists come from all walks of life… and that women can use their brains and beauty to make themselves powerful basically no matter what they look like, or what their background is.

CD: For a while you also had a ‘Gallery of Satanic Men’, which you recently took down. What were your reasons for doing that?

MS: Partly for lack of submissions. The ones that were up (most of them) were wonderful, people who I thought were very clever and Satanic. However I wanted to focus my site more on Satanic Witchery so that was another reason for leaving only the women.

CD: What are some of your hobbies?

MS: Lets see, painting, drawing, writing…. Making things, from clothing to just little things for around the house. I love exploring.. and rummaging, old houses are great and little antique stores.

CD: Your artwork is soon to grace the covers of two different CDs. How did that come about?

MS: I was actually contacted via my webpage, by a fellow by the name of Ken Gage. He asked if I wanted to supply the artwork for the cover of his solo album. He sent me some of his music, which I liked.. and I was more than happy to have someone I found interesting, who also happened to be a Satanist use my artwork.

CD: Anton LaVey’s book, “The Satanic Witch” obviously struck a chord in you. What did you get from the book, and how have you applied the knowledge to real life?

MS: “The Satanic Witch” did indeed have an impact on me, it solidified my beliefs in the power of women, and that knowing how to use what you have is equally as important as what you actually have. It really is full of confidence builders, and ways to get to know yourself and others better. I think any woman, who really enjoys being a girl.. and being feminine should read it. I use a lot of the positive reinforcements it gave me in everyday life. One of the main things I carry with me day to day is that I am allowed to be aware of the fact that I’m not only intelligent, but attractive as well. Also that there is nothing wrong with using what I have to get my way ::wink:::

CD: What are your plans with the webpage? Any big changes coming in the near future?

MS: I hope to add more of my own writings to the page as time permits and those of other people as well. Another thing I’d like to do would be to organize more of a resource center, for women.. Satanic or not.
