Ode to the Sidekicks

Here's to the sidekicks,
those who fight behind
the intrepid TV heroes
that dominate the screen time.
They rarely ever get the girl
yet when they manage to,
it's never without a busted head
and a broken rib or two.
Iolous, the clever loyal man,
stood steadfast and yet,
when the finale was over
lay dead upon the set.
Blair, the enthusiastic Guide,
is always there for Jim.
He missed his most important class--
he should have learned to swim!!
Xena wouldn't listen to
her dear friend Gabrielle
Now Gaby's taking the loooong way down
in an endless pit to hell.
Gary Hobson's hapless helper
seemed a little squirrelly.
He took a job in Hollywood and
Left the edition early!
Feel pity for the sidekicks.
Give the guys a break!
They shouldn't have to take the fall
So the hero can look great!
